Adrian Abrose Connor, better known as Mack Conner was a young man whose success in the marathon made him a national identity. He competed in Victoria’s first marathon and was the first Victorian runner to cross the line. Mack ran for the mnewly formed Geelong Presbyterian Harriers which was a section of the Geelong Presbyterian Guild. Coming from a large family and having fallen on hard times, Mack had little formal education, but the Guild developed him educationally, physically and spiritually.
When World War I affected the nation, Mack’s patriotic duty led him him to volunteer in the Australian Imperial Forces with his older brother. Well Run Mack tells the story of his success and commitment to duty.
